Step 1. State what the ETS does and where. The electron transport system (ETS) is the series of electron-carrier complexes - Complex I, II, III, IV and V - arranged on the inner mitochondrial membrane, which finally re-oxidises the NADH+H+ and FADH2 generated by glycolysis, the link reaction and the Krebs cycle.

Step 2. Trace the electron flow. Complex I (NADH dehydrogenase) oxidises NADH+H+, and Complex II (succinate dehydrogenase) oxidises FADH2; both hand their electrons to ubiquinone/coenzyme Q (reduced to ubiquinol). Ubiquinol is oxidised by Complex III (cytochrome bc1 complex), which passes electrons to the mobile carrier cytochrome C; cytochrome C is oxidised by Complex IV (cytochrome C oxidase), which finally transfers the electrons to molecular oxygen - the terminal oxidation step - and the reduced oxygen combines with protons to form water. …
