Financial inclusion in Manipur has recorded several genuine achievements.

1. A dedicated regional rural bank. The Manipur Rural Bank (MRB), set up in 1981 as a joint undertaking of the central government, the state government and a sponsor public-sector bank, was created to take banking to rural and semi-urban areas; it offers savings accounts and RuPay debit cards to rural customers.
2. Participation in the PMJDY drive. After PMJDY's launch in 2014, banks in Manipur, including the Manipur Rural Bank, joined the mass opening of basic zero-balance accounts with RuPay cards, bringing many first-time customers into the formal system.
