Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle: the position and momentum of a microscopic particle (like an electron) cannot both be measured exactly and simultaneously; the product of their uncertainties has a fixed minimum value.

Werner Heisenberg proposed that for very small (quantum-scale) particles such as electrons, it is fundamentally impossible to simultaneously know both the exact position (x) and the exact momentum (p) of the particle. If delta-x is the uncertainty in position and delta-p is the uncertainty in momentum, then:
