Wattless current is the reactive part of an AC that consumes no net power; power factor tells you what fraction of the apparent power is actually real (usable) power.

A) Wattless current: In a purely inductive or purely capacitive AC circuit, the current is 90 degrees out of phase with the voltage, so the average power consumed over a full cycle is zero (P_avg = V_rms I_rms cos(phi) = V_rms I_rms cos90 = 0), even though a current does flow. This current component (Irms sin(phi), the part 90 degrees out of phase with V) is called the wattless current, because no net work/power is associated with it.
