Departmental Stores are a single large store selling a very wide variety of goods, organised internally into separate departments — clothing, groceries, electronics, and more — all under one roof and one overall management, letting a customer satisfy many different shopping needs in a single visit.
Chain Stores (Multiple Shops) are a number of standardised, near-identical outlets located in different towns or different parts of a city, all owned and centrally controlled by one firm; each individual branch may be modest in size, but the firm as a whole gains the buying power and management strength of a large business.
