A real gas behaves like an ideal gas at low pressure and high temperature, because then intermolecular forces and the finite molecular volume both become negligible.

An ideal gas is a hypothetical gas that exactly obeys the gas equation PV = nRT under all conditions. It is based on two key assumptions:
