Real gas molecules have finite size and exert intermolecular forces on each other; both effects vanish (become negligible) at low pressure and high temperature, making the gas behave ideally.

The ideal gas equation PV=nRTPV = nRT assumes two things that real gas molecules violate: (i) molecules have zero size, and (ii) there are no intermolecular forces between them.

At low pressure, the gas occupies a large volume, so molecules are far apart on average — the actual volume occupied by the molecules themselves becomes negligible compared to the volume of the container, and the molecules are too far apart for intermolecular attractive forces to matter.

At high temperature, molecules move with very high kinetic energy, so any weak intermolecular attraction is overwhelmed and has negligible effect on their motion.
