This question tests your ability to recall specific geographical features of India — population density, agricultural production, ports, and mineral belts — and locate them on a map. The five selected features are: Arunachal Pradesh (lowest density), Uttar Pradesh (sugarcane), Kandla (major port in Gujarat), Mosabani (copper in Jharkhand), and Balaghat (manganese in Madhya Pradesh).

Map Interpretation — Why This Approach Works

The question is not about memorising every district or town. It is about knowing the regional geography of India — which states are sparsely populated (the mountainous northeast), which state dominates a particular crop (the Gangetic plains for sugarcane), and which specific towns are famous for a mineral or a port. Once you know the region, the exact name follows.

For the map, you need to place the feature in the correct state and at the approximate location within that state. The symbol (a dot, a star, a port icon) must be clear and labelled.

  1. State with the lowest population density (2011)

The 2011 Census gives Arunachal Pradesh the lowest density at just 17 persons per km². The state is in the far northeast, bordering China. On the map, locate it in the eastern Himalayas, north of Assam. Mark it with a dot and label "Arunachal Pradesh".

  2. State leading in sugarcane production

Uttar Pradesh is by far India's largest sugarcane producer, accounting for nearly half the national output. The state lies in the northern plains, south of Uttarakhand and Nepal. Shade or mark the state boundary and label "Uttar Pradesh".

  3. Major sea port in Gujarat

Kandla (now officially Deendayal Port) is a major port on the Gulf of Kutch in western Gujarat. It handles bulk cargo like crude oil and grains. On the map, place a port symbol (an anchor or a dot) near the coast of Kutch district, west of Ahmedabad, and label "Kandla".

  4. Copper mining centre in Jharkhand

Mosabani (also spelled Mosaboni) is the most famous copper mine in Jharkhand, located in the Singhbhum district. It lies in the southern part of the state, near the border with Odisha. Mark it with a mining symbol (a crossed pick and shovel) and label "Mosabani".

  5. Manganese mining centre in Madhya Pradesh …
