When the x-intercept aa and y-intercept bb are both given, the intercept form applies directly:

xa+yb=1\dfrac{x}{a} + \dfrac{y}{b} = 1

Here a=4a = 4 and b=3b = 3, so

x4+y3=1\dfrac{x}{4} + \dfrac{y}{3} = 1

Multiply through by the LCM 1212 to clear denominators:

3x+4y=12 ⇒ 3x+4y−12=03x + 4y = 12 \ \Rightarrow\ 3x + 4y - 12 = 0 …
