Step 1. Interphase arc (the longest part of the loop), divided into three sub-arcs:
- G1 (about 8 hours or more) — label with 'cell growth, normal cell function, organelle duplication'.
- S (about 6-8 hours) — label with 'DNA replication'.
- G2 (about 2-5 hours) — label with 'protein synthesis' (synthesis of proteins needed for division).
Step 2. Mitosis arc (about 1-3 hours), shown as a small arc broken into four labelled sub-stages in order: Prophase → Metaphase → Anaphase → Telophase.
Step 3. Cytokinesis, shown as the final small segment of the loop, which splits the cell into two daughter cells and returns the diagram back to the starting point (G1) of the next cell cycle. …
