The AND GATE is a two-(or-more)-input, one-output gate representing logical multiplication: its output Y is HIGH (1) only when ALL of its inputs are simultaneously HIGH (1); if even one input is LOW (0), the output is LOW (0). For the standard two-input case, its truth table is: input A = 0, input B = 0 gives output Y = 0; A = 0, B = 1 gives Y = 0; A = 1, B = 0 gives Y = 0; and A = 1, B = 1 gives Y = 1 -- the output is high in exactly the one row where both inputs are high, and low in all three other rows.
