Placentation

Placentation is the arrangement of the placenta - the ovule-bearing tissue - inside the ovary, relative to the ovary wall and any internal septa. Among the forms illustrated in this chapter: parietal axile placentation has the placentae sitting at the junction of a septum and the ovary wall in an ovary of two or more locules (Brassicaceae). Apical pendulous placentation has the placenta positioned at the very top of the ovary, with the ovules hanging downward from it.
