A back cross is a cross between an F1 hybrid and either one of its two original parental genotypes, and comes in two forms depending on which parent is used. A dominant back cross - the F1 crossed back to the dominant parent - produces offspring that are uniformly dominant in phenotype, since the dominant parent contributes only dominant alleles and no recessive individuals appear.
