EVALUATION
EVALUATION
This is the textbook's own end-of-chapter evaluation for the unit, testing material from both halves of the chapter -- general p-block trends (Section 2.1) and the detailed chemistry of the Group 13 boron family and Group 14 carbon family (Sections 2.2-2.3) -- through two question formats.
Part I, 'Choose the correct answer', is a set of 18 multiple-choice questions (two drawn from NEET papers), spanning: borax and boric acid's acid-base behaviour, banana bonding in diborane, elemental abundance in the earth's crust, catenation among the group 14 elements, hybridisation in fullerenes/graphite/graphene/dry ice, the basic structural silicate unit and the repeating silicone unit, monomers for silicone polymers, diamond's tetrahedral geometry, silicate-classification statement-checking, a column-matching question over boron/silicon compounds, aluminium alloys, boron's use in nuclear-reactor shielding, and the inert-pair-effect stability sequence for +1 oxidation states down group 13. …
