  1. Introduction:

    As part of our Secretarial Practice study, I visited the Bank of Baroda, Alkapuri Branch, Vadodara on 10th March, 2026, to understand the working of a bank and the various services it provides to its customers. This report presents my observations.

  2. Observations:

  • Layout and departments: The branch was neat and well organised. It had separate counters/sections for account opening, deposits and withdrawals (cash counter), clearing, loans and a customer-service desk.
  • Services offered: The bank accepts deposits (savings, current, fixed and recurring), grants loans and advances, and offers facilities such as ATM/debit cards, cheque books, demand drafts, NEFT/RTGS/UPI transfers, lockers and net/mobile banking.
  • Use of technology: Most work was computerised. Customers used the ATM, passbook-printing machine and cash-deposit machine, and staff carried out transactions online, which made the service fast.
  • Staff and customer service: The staff were courteous and helpful and guided customers in filling forms. Secrecy of customer accounts was maintained. …
