A p-channel JFET is a p-type bar with two n-type gate regions diffused on its sides; the p-region between them is the channel, with ohmic contacts giving the drain and source.
The p-channel JFET is constructed in the same way as the n-channel type, but with the semiconductor materials swapped. A bar of p-type semiconductor is used, and two heavily doped n-type regions are diffused on its two opposite sides, forming two pn junctions on either side of the bar. The p-type region between these junctions is the channel through which charge carriers (holes) flow. The two n-type regions are internally connected and brought out as the single Gate terminal, while ohmic contacts at the ends of the bar form the Drain and the Source. Because conduction …
