Gene therapy corrects the root genetic cause of a disorder, not just its symptoms.

Gene therapy involves delivering a normal, functional copy of a gene into the cells of a patient carrying a defective or missing gene, so as to correct the disorder at its genetic root rather than merely treating symptoms with drugs or supplements.
