Evidences of Organic Evolution

The theory of organic evolution holds that today's complex organisms originated, over long periods of time, from earlier and simpler forms of life. This idea does not rest on any single line of evidence; instead, it is supported by converging evidence drawn from several distinct branches of biology, including palaeontology, comparative anatomy (morphology), embryology and molecular biology — the first two of these are treated in detail in the sub-sections that follow.
