Magnetization measures how strongly a material has been magnetized, defined analogously to 'moment per unit volume', with the same units as the magnetic field intensity HH.

Definition: Magnetization MM of a magnetic material is defined as the net magnetic dipole moment per unit volume of the material:

M=mnetV,M = \frac{m_{\text{net}}}{V},

where mnetm_{\text{net}} is the resultant magnetic moment of all the atomic dipoles in the sample, and VV is its volume. It quantifies the degree to which the material has become magnetized under an applied field.
