Whiptail disease is caused by molybdenum deficiency, while Little Leaf disease is caused by zinc deficiency.

Both of these are classic examples of visible plant symptoms caused by specific micronutrient deficiencies:

Plant A — Whiptail disease: this occurs due to a deficiency of Molybdenum (Mo). Molybdenum is required by the enzyme nitrate reductase (which reduces nitrate to nitrite as part of nitrogen assimilation) and by nitrogenase (in nitrogen fixation). When Mo is deficient, nitrogen metabolism is disrupted, and in susceptible crops like cauliflower, the leaf lamina fails to expand normally — the blade becomes narrow, distorted, and reduced to little more than the midrib, giving it a whip-like appearance, hence 'whiptail'.
