Step 1. During a lunar eclipse, the edge of Earth's shadow can be seen sweeping across the face of the Moon as it enters and exits the umbra.

Step 2. This shadow edge, in every recorded eclipse and from every possible eclipse geometry, is consistently curved (part of a circular arc) -- never a straight edge, and never a shape that varies unpredictably with the geometry of a particular eclipse.

Step 3. A flat, disk-shaped object would sometimes cast a straight-edged shadow (when viewed edge-on) and a curved one only in specific orientations -- it could not produce a consistently circular shadow-edge regardless of the eclipse's timing or geometry.
