Demineralised or distilled water, while chemically very pure (free of dissolved salts and minerals), is not ideal for drinking:

  • It lacks the small but physiologically useful quantities of dissolved minerals (calcium, magnesium, fluoride, sodium salts, etc.) that ordinary drinking water naturally contains and that the human body benefits from.
  • It tastes flat/insipid, since dissolved minerals and gases contribute to the characteristic taste of natural drinking water.
