Let the unknown third vertex be C(x3,y3)C(x_3,y_3). The centroid formula gives

G(x,y)=(x1+x2+x33, y1+y2+y33)G(x,y)=\left(\dfrac{x_1+x_2+x_3}{3},\ \dfrac{y_1+y_2+y_3}{3}\right)

with A(x1,y1)=(3,−2)A(x_1,y_1)=(3,-2), B(x2,y2)=(−1,4)B(x_2,y_2)=(-1,4) and G(2,3)G(2,3) already known. This gives two separate equations, one for each coordinate.

For xx:

3+(−1)+x33=2 ⇒ 2+x3=6 ⇒ x3=4\dfrac{3+(-1)+x_3}{3}=2 \ \Rightarrow\ 2+x_3=6 \ \Rightarrow\ x_3=4

For yy:

−2+4+y33=3 ⇒ 2+y3=9 ⇒ y3=7\dfrac{-2+4+y_3}{3}=3 \ \Rightarrow\ 2+y_3=9 \ \Rightarrow\ y_3=7 …
