Freedom of faith and worship

Article 25 gives every person the freedom of conscience and the right to freely

profess, practise, and propagate the religion of their choice -- and equally, the freedom to profess

no religion at all. This is a personal freedom: no one can be compelled to follow a religion, or

prevented from following the religion they choose, or stopped from openly explaining and sharing

their religious beliefs with others.

Article 26 extends a parallel freedom to religious denominations as groups: the right to establish

and maintain institutions for religious and charitable purposes, to manage their own affairs in

matters of religion, and to own, acquire, and administer property for these purposes. Both these
