Poster Writing
A poster is a visual-verbal appeal designed to catch attention and spread a message quickly — about a campaign, event, social cause, or product. Unlike a notice, a poster is persuasive and eye-catching; it uses slogans, short phrases, and creative layout rather than full sentences. CBSE tests your ability to combine a clear message with an attractive, organised presentation.
Exact format expected. A poster usually contains, arranged attractively (often boxed):
- Issuing authority / organiser (top) — the club, NGO, school, or department.
- A catchy heading or slogan (large, central) — the hook that grabs attention.
- The core message — a few short phrases or bullet points, not paragraphs (the what, why, and the appeal).
- Essential details — date, time, venue, or a call to action (e.g. "Join us", "Say No to Plastic").
- Contact / concerned person at the bottom, if relevant.
Use capitals, dashes, and spacing to make it visually striking. A slogan or rhetorical line ("Every Tree Counts!") earns credit.
CBSE marking scheme (typically 4 marks). Roughly: Format & visual appeal (layout, slogan, attractiveness) – about 1 mark; Content (relevant, complete message with key details) – about 2 marks; Expression (correct, catchy, concise language) – about 1 mark.
