This question draws on the chapter Memories of Childhood, which presents two autobiographical narratives — one by Zitkala-Sa, a Native American woman, and the other by Bama, a Tamil Dalit woman. Both accounts reveal how their communities were treated by dominant social groups: not as equals, but as inferiors to be "civilised" or kept in their place.
