Let XX = number of lamps that burn out, X∼B(6,0.3)X\sim B(6,0.3) with q=0.7q=0.7 (still burning). Out of 6 lamps, the classroom is unusable when fewer than 4 are burning, i.e. burning <4<4, which (since burning =6−X=6-X) means 6−X<46-X<4, i.e. X>2X>2, i.e. X≥3X\ge3 lamps have burnt out.

P(X≥3)=1−P(X≤2)=1−[P(0)+P(1)+P(2)]P(X\ge3)=1-P(X\le2)=1-\left[P(0)+P(1)+P(2)\right]. …
