Part (a): Locate Ujjaiyini (Madhya Pradesh, Mahajanapada), Kalibangan (Rajasthan, Harappan) and Panipat (Haryana, Mughal).

Part (b): Locate Thanjavur (Tamil Nadu, Chola); the map's A and B are INM centres to be read off the actual sheet; VI answers – Harappan sites Harappa/Mohenjodaro, Mughal territory Delhi.

Part (b): VI answers – Vijayanagara's capital is Hampi; two INM centres are Champaran and Dandi.

The printed political outline map is not reproduced here, so the specific points marked A and B cannot be read off; the plausible candidates are listed. The named sites are located by their correct state/region, and the visually impaired (non-map) parts are answered fully since they are determinable.

Part (a): Locate and label

  • Ujjaiyini (Ujjain) – a Mahajanapada. Ujjain was the capital of the Avanti Mahajanapada. It lies in Madhya Pradesh, on the Shipra river. Mark it with a labelled dot/symbol.
  • Kalibangan – a mature Harappan site. It is in Rajasthan (Hanumangarh district), on the bank of the now-dry Ghaggar (ancient Sarasvati), and is famous for ploughed fields and fire altars.
  • Panipat – a territory under the Mughals. Panipat is in Haryana, about 90 km north of Delhi on the Grand Trunk Road, and lay within Mughal-controlled territory.

Part (b): Thanjavur, the marked points, and the VI alternative

  • Thanjavur – a medieval empire. Thanjavur (Tanjore), in the Kaveri delta of Tamil Nadu, was the capital of the Chola empire, whose Brihadishvara temple was built by Rajaraja I.
  • 34.2 – places A and B (centres of the Indian National Movement). Because the actual outline map is not reproduced here, the exact points cannot be identified; the student must read them off the sheet. Commonly marked INM centres include Champaran, Dandi, Bardoli, Bombay (Mumbai), Calcutta (Kolkata) and Lahore. …
