Assembly language uses human-readable mnemonics that correspond one-to-one with a processor's machine instructions, translated to binary by an assembler.
Machine code (binary) is hard for people to write, so assembly language provides mnemonic names for each machine instruction — MOV to move data, ADD to add, SUBB to subtract, and so on.
