Peptide bond = -CO-NH- formed by condensation of -COOH and -NH2_2 (loss of H2_2O). AgNO2_2 converts R-X to R-NO2_2.

Peptide bond: amino acids link together to form proteins/peptides through an amide (peptide) linkage, −CO−NH−-CO-NH-. It forms when the carboxyl group (−COOH-COOH) of one amino acid condenses with the amino group (−NH2-NH_2) of another amino acid, releasing a molecule of water (condensation/dehydration reaction):

H2N−CHR−COOH+H2N−CHR′−COOH⟶H2N−CHR−CO−NH−CHR′−COOH+H2OH_2N-CHR-COOH + H_2N-CHR'-COOH \longrightarrow H_2N-CHR-CO-NH-CHR'-COOH + H_2O
