Having established the phasor idea, this section works out, one element at a time, exactly how a resistor, an inductor and a capacitor each individually respond when connected to a sinusoidal AC source e=e0sin⁡ωte=e_0\sin\omega t -- specifically, the resulting current's peak value and its phase relationship (in phase, lagging, or leading) with the applied emf. Throughout this analysis, any capacitor or inductor referred to is treated as IDEAL (a pure inductor has zero resistance; a pure capacitor has zero resistance and no leakage) unless the problem explicitly states otherwise.
