Construction. A coil of NN turns and area AA is mounted to rotate about an axis between the pole faces of a magnet providing a uniform field BB. Its two ends connect to two slip rings mounted on the same rotating shaft; two stationary carbon brushes press against these rings, maintaining continuous sliding electrical contact and delivering the induced current to an external circuit as the coil turns.

Setting up the flux. Let the coil be turned at constant angular speed ω\omega, with θ=ωt\theta=\omega t the angle between the coil's normal and BB (taking θ=0\theta=0 at maximum flux). The flux linked is

ΦB=NBAcos⁡ωt\Phi_B = NBA\cos\omega t

Applying Faraday's law.

e=−dΦBdt=−ddt(NBAcos⁡ωt)=NBAωsin⁡ωte = -\frac{d\Phi_B}{dt} = -\frac{d}{dt}(NBA\cos\omega t) = NBA\omega\sin\omega t

Writing e0=NBAωe_0=NBA\omega:

e=e0sin⁡ωte = e_0\sin\omega t …
