Concept understanding — Constants in C

A constant is a value that is fixed and does not change while the program runs. C constants fall into two broad families.

Numeric constants represent numbers:

Integer constants - whole numbers with no decimal point, e.g. 100, -25.
Real (floating) constants - numbers with a decimal point or an exponent, e.g. 3.14 or 0.1234e-4.

Non-numeric constants represent characters and text:

Character constant - a single character enclosed in single quotes, e.g. 'A' or '='. Each character has a numeric ASCII value (for example the character '=' has the ASCII code 61).
String constant - a sequence of characters enclosed in double quotes, e.g. "BANGALORE". …
