f(x)=a−xb−xf(x)=\dfrac{a-x}{b-x}.

f(2)f(2) is undefined means the denominator vanishes at x=2x=2: b−2=0  ⟹  b=2b-2=0 \implies b=2.

So f(x)=a−x2−xf(x)=\dfrac{a-x}{2-x}. Now use f(3)=5f(3)=5: a−32−3=5  ⟹  a−3−1=5  ⟹  a−3=−5  ⟹  a=−2\dfrac{a-3}{2-3}=5 \implies \dfrac{a-3}{-1}=5 \implies a-3=-5 \implies a=-2. …
