Common Cold
G. Common Cold : Common cold is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory tract, also known as nasopharyngitis, acute viral rhinopharyngitis, or acute coryza. It is caused by a group of viruses that mainly includes Rhinoviruses and Coronaviruses.
Signs and symptoms: Cough, sore throat, a running nose and fever; nasal congestion and sneezing; conjunctivitis (red eyes); and muscle aches, fatigue, headache, shivering and loss of appetite.
Prevention and control: Staying away from a person suffering from a cold; washing hands with soap and water; using a handkerchief to cover the nose and mouth while coughing or sneezing; and using alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
