Haemophilia and red-green colour blindness are the textbook's human examples of the X-linked recessive, criss-cross pattern shown in the chart.

The pattern to match. The pedigree shows a trait carried silently by females (circles with a dot), expressed in males who receive the recessive X from a carrier mother, and expressed in a female only when her father is affected and her mother is a carrier. This is X-linked recessive inheritance.

Human examples.
