Each pump stroke applies pressure to the enclosed air at a single inlet. If pressure stayed where it was applied, the balloon would bulge only at the nozzle. Instead the whole balloon inflates uniformly: the enclosed fluid (air) transmits the applied pressure equally and undiminished to every interior point and to every element of the wall — precisely Pascal's law (§2.3.5). The wall tension then shapes the balloon, but the DRIVING pressure is the same everywhere inside at a given height, which is why even an oddly shaped balloon rounds out as pressure rises. …
