[!TLDR]

Faithful amplification = an undistorted, exactly-scaled copy of the input.

An amplifier is only useful if it enlarges the signal without changing it. If the transistor is driven into saturation or cut-off during part of the cycle, the output waveform gets clipped or distorted and no longer resembles the input. To avoid this, the operating point is fixed in the middle of the active region by proper biasing — the emitter-base junction forward biased and the collector-base junction reverse biased — so the whole signal swing is amplified linearly.

[!ANSWER]

Faithful amplification is amplification in which the output is a true, undistorted, enlarged replica of the input signal; it is obtained by biasing the transistor correctly so that it operates in the active region for the entire input cycle.
