5. External genitalia : The external genital organs of the female lie outside the vagina and are collectively called the vulva (meaning 'covering' or 'wrapping') or pudendum. They include the following parts:
a. Vestibule : It is a median, vertical depression of the vulva that encloses both the urethral and the vaginal openings.
b. Labia minora : These are a pair of thin folds lying just inside the labia majora, with which they merge posteriorly to form the fourchette, while anteriorly they converge to form a hood-like covering around the clitoris.
c. Clitoris : A small, conical and highly sensitive projection at the anterior end of the labia minora; it contains a pair of erectile tissue, the corpora cavernosa, and is homologous to the penis of the male. …
