Part (a): Locate Dholavira (Gujarat, Harappan), Meerut (Uttar Pradesh, Ashokan pillar) and Vijayanagara/Hampi (Karnataka).

Part (b): Locate Bijapur (Karnataka); the map's A and B are 1857 sites to read off it; VI – Harappan site Dholavira, Buddhist site Sanchi, Vijayanagara capital Hampi.

Part (c): VI – a neighbour of Vijayanagara was the Bahmani Sultanate; two cities under British control in 1857 were Calcutta and Bombay.

The printed political outline map is not reproduced here, so the specific points marked A and B cannot be read off; the plausible candidates are listed. The named sites are located by their correct state/region, and the visually impaired (non-map) parts are answered fully since they are determinable.

  • Vijayanagara. The capital of the Vijayanagara empire, at Hampi on the Tungabhadra river in Karnataka.

Part (b): Bijapur, the marked points, and the VI alternative

  • Bijapur – an important town of medieval India. In northern Karnataka; capital of the Adil Shahi dynasty of the Deccan, famous for the Gol Gumbaz.
  • 34.2 – places A and B (British control in 1857). These must be read off the actual map. Common 1857 centres include Delhi, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi and Meerut.
  • Visually impaired alternative. One Harappan site: Dholavira (or Harappa, Mohenjodaro, Kalibangan, Lothal, Rakhigarhi). One Buddhist site: Sanchi (or Sarnath, Bodh Gaya, Amaravati). Capital of the Vijayanagara empire: Hampi (Vijayanagara). …
