At the community level, safe disposal of sewage and human waste, protection of water sources from contamination, control of stagnant water bodies (which breed the Anopheles and Culex mosquito vectors responsible for malaria and filariasis), and regular garbage disposal prevent the environmental conditions in which pathogens and their vectors can multiply and spread.
