Let u=sin⁡−12x1+x2u=\sin^{-1}\dfrac{2x}{1+x^2}, v=cos⁡−11−x21+x2v=\cos^{-1}\dfrac{1-x^2}{1+x^2}. Put x=tan⁡θx=\tan\theta.

Step 1. Since 2x1+x2=sin⁡2θ\dfrac{2x}{1+x^2}=\sin2\theta,

u=sin⁡−1(sin⁡2θ)=2θ=2tan⁡−1xu=\sin^{-1}(\sin2\theta)=2\theta=2\tan^{-1}x

Step 2. Since 1−x21+x2=cos⁡2θ\dfrac{1-x^2}{1+x^2}=\cos2\theta,

v=cos⁡−1(cos⁡2θ)=2θ=2tan⁡−1xv=\cos^{-1}(\cos2\theta)=2\theta=2\tan^{-1}x …
